Camila Arroyo is a visionary Mexican choreographer, performer, and movement director with a practice that spans both New York City and Mexico City. Her work pushes the boundaries of dance, film, performance, and critical theory, embracing interdisciplinary collaboration and improvisation. With a deep commitment to challenging traditional notions of choreography, Camila harnesses the political and transformative power of the body, expanding the possibilities of dance.
A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, where she studied dance, theater, and film, Camila later earned a master’s degree in Performance Studies from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, supported by a prestigious Jumex Foundation scholarship. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Performance Studies at NYU, focusing on choreographic practices in Mexico under the mentorship of esteemed scholar André Lepecki.
Her groundbreaking work has been featured at major international venues and festivals, including the Biennale di Venezia, Triennale Milano, Museo Experimental el Eco, Museo Jumex, and Centro Cultural España. Her innovative approach has also garnered recognition at dance film festivals such as Dance Camera West and the Fashion Film Festival Milano.
As a movement director and choreographer, Camila has collaborated with global brands like Dior, Nike, and Tiffany & Co., and worked alongside renowned artists such as Damien Jalet and Xavier Le Roy. Her contributions to film and fashion include collaborations with acclaimed figures like Ela Minus and Billy Porter, further establishing her reputation as a creative force across multiple disciplines.
